Time To Reprioritize
It’s past time to reprioritize! This is a personal pep talk in writing, but you’re welcome to read it. I know it’s hard to believe this is more than a giveaway blog lately. There are nearly 100 active Rafflecopter giveaways published. When I was taking more time for other things, I was lucky to blog about 20 or 30.
Mind you, giveaways I blog about for extra entries are a very small portion of what I enter. There are many more that I enter once and I’m done with, and even more that offer daily social media entries like sharing on Facebook or tweeting. Such a large number that I haven’t found time to tweet daily.
I was hoping this would be the year I finally get organized. January is half over and I haven’t even started.
I’ve turned into a hedonist: a person whose life is devoted to the pursuit of pleasure and self-gratification. Winning gives me great satisfaction and I’ve been dedicated ALL my time to it at the sacrifice of more important household duties, e.g., a clean home. I’m not happy with that and hope I can change. I know real change takes time and perseverance instead of procrastination.
I’ve been sucked in so much and so often by the allure of blog giveaways. I don’t even know why I enter some of them. Truly, honestly, it’s ridiculous. I wouldn’t say I’m as bad as some who enter for anything and everything, but I’m feeling like a close second. I follow hundreds of blogs by [almost] every possible method. It’s too hard to keep up with and totally time-consuming.
I’m not planning to unfollow anyone unless there are consistently prizes I’m not interested in. I’m promising myself right here and now to use the “mark as read” button more often. A quick scan of the title can determine whether a prize is something I really, REALLY want or need. I’m sure I will win less, but I can live with that.
I’ve said some of this before, but it bears repeating. It goes without saying that you can have too much [and I do]. I need to use up what I have before buying or winning more. I ran out of storage space long ago and a lot of things still aren’t put away. That’s another big item on my To-Do List.
I’m not an extreme couponer who stockpiles, or even a hoarder. It’s mostly an accumulation of prizes. I seriously need to have a garage or yard sale. I’ve thought about it many times. Can you believe I never, ever have? I don’t even go to them because I don’t need anything. I’ve considered visiting to check out and compare prices, but haven’t gotten around to it.
My Definite Don’t Enter List:
- Bath, Beauty & Body. I probably have unopened items that need to be thrown out.
- Books, Movies & Music. I find all the free Kindle eBooks and digital music I want online. We watch movies once with Netflix DVD rental or streaming, or even Redbox, and we’re done with them. [I've had several collections on more than one occasion. They're nothing more than dust collectors.]
- Candles. I used to love candles, but haven’t been burning them for quite some time.
- Jewelry. I have an overflowing armoire full of jewelry I never wear, plus lots more than doesn’t have a place of its own yet.
Maybe it would be better worded “will try very hard to refrain from entering”. This gives you many more opportunities to win, even if you don’t find them here. It’s less competition!
My Definite Do Enter List:
- Cash.
- Food.
- Gift Cards.
I think the reasons are obvious for those three.
I need to focus on entering more sweepstakes. I’ve been letting them slide for months other than a few here and there. That’s no way to win!
Do you limit time spent entering giveaways? Or the number of blogs you follow and try to keep up with?

I tend to get obsesive about things and giveaways have me in their grasp. I spend four hours a day on my ‘hobby’ but I have not neglected any of my regular routines…I am sleepy though
Blogging and maintaining a blog keeps me so busy now, I usually don’t enter blog giveaways at all now, LOL. Best of luck to you Maria!
