I Hate Fireworks!

Fireworks

Plain and simple.  My dogs hate fireworks, so I do too.  They’re extremely loud and scary to a dog’s sensitive ears.  Probably worst than thunder.  It’s not like you can go indoors and not hear them — you can still hear them as if the walls don’t exist.

A total waste of money.  Here today, gone tomorrow.  Totally annoying and obnoxious.  As far as I’m concerned, if someone’s stupid enough to play with fireworks they deserve to have them blow up or burn body parts.  It’s no different than the adage that says “If you play with fire, you get burned”.

I truly don’t see the point, except under controlled circumstances like a Fourth of July celebration.  People start setting them off in my neighborhood long before they’re legal, and long past the deadline.  Sometimes all year round, and definitely after midnight when people should be allowed to sleep in peace.  No one pays heed to city ordinances and there’s not much you can do.  By the time police show up, the culprits would be finished and gone.

  1. Our neighbors(.5 mile away)do them all the time & late at night. And my dogs lab & bulldog go crazy barking. So not only does the pow, bang keep us up, so does the barking!

  2. Ugh it's very sad….and annoying, but it shows you how most holidays now are just reasons to buy stuff and or get drunk….I saw the WORST commercial ever advertising beer, can't even remember what beer, but it showed circa 1700's and our founding fathers drinking and partying…

  3. I'm a teetotaler by choice, but I don't begrudge anyone having a good time. However, it doesn't sound like that commercial sets a good example for future generations!

  4. I'm glad I'm not the only one too Pixie! I just read in this morning's newspaper that 26 percent of Americans polled weren't sure of who we won our independence from!! It's a sad statistic that proves alot of people don't know the real reason for fireworks on the Fourth of July.

The sky is usually clear at night, but last night it was so smoke-filled and ugly :(

  5. I'm glad I'm not the only one….totally agree with you on every point!

My poor animals are scared to death for about a week because of jerks who like to set fireworks off in a crowded subdivision before, during, and after july 4th!

I understand sparklers, maybe a few bangs on July 4th, but before and after? No way! And especially not after 11pm…..I hear them going off all the way until 3am this morning!!!

It's insane that a suburban home should sound like it's under attack…the houses are stacked up on one another…ugh

And I'm sure my family and I are in for more of the same tonight….I'm really starting to Hate the 4th of July
